ACR Messina–Messana Riviera 4-1: winning Coppa Italia opener

Bonanno, Kragl, Sarao and Bollino seal a Giallorossi win in the first-round first leg.

ACR Messina open their official season with a win. At the Stadio “Franco Scoglio” – Messina they beat Messana Riviera 4-1 in the first leg of the Coppa Italia Eccellenza Sicilia first round.

A balanced match was settled by Messina’s increased tempo in the second half.

Heat and early-season fitness affected the tempo. For more than an hour both teams gave little away. The match changed in the 60th minute when Messina took the lead.

Tommaso Bonanno made it 1-0. Three minutes later Oliver Kragl doubled the lead from a free kick. Jacopo Di Vita briefly reopened the match in the 66th minute.

In the 85th minute Manuel Sarao converted a penalty for 3-1; Mauro Bollino completed the Giallorossi win in the 90+1st.
